The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is an assessment that can help determine your strengths and psychological preferences. You may find it useful for decision making, understanding others or choosing a career. Katharine Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers extrapolated information originated by Carl Jung in the early 1920's. They examined psychological sub-types and how these may vary among individuals. Jung's theory was based on four psychological sub-types: sensation, intuition, feeling and thinking. From this, an assessment tool was developed to further examine individual differences and a variation of 16 outcomes was generated. To further their work, they indicated which would be an ideal profession for each of these 16 sub-types.
